Our Story

Our story of Moonglet came to existence after outbreak of recent pandemic, which came to existence due to spread from animal origin and it impacted every life of the planet. This became a pandemic and forced us for panic buying round the world. While all this was happening, we continued to hear of salmonella poisoning and avian flu outbreaks taking place all across the world.

We Indians love to eat egg, not because of its taste alone but the nutrition it provides but the industrialization of egg production is curbing the nutrition prospect and doing more harm than benefit. The medicines and anti oxidants used to increase production is producing hormonal change in humans and also altering our metabolism. Indians are also accustomed to lentil like mung beans and chickpeas. So we aimed to cater to people with all kinds of diet, whether vegetarian or non-veg, vegans etc. to help them move to a plant-based diet which provides them higher nutrition as compared to eggs and much better taste compared to eggs. India has one of the highest numbers of vegetarians of any country worldwide. Most of Indians are compassionate and hate eating their pets then why shall we eat chicken, meat, etc. as food when we god gave us knowledge to grow our food. We Indians generally don’t prefer meat as their superior source of protein.

Our Indian superstar Dilip Singh Rana (The Great Khali) is vegetarian and his source of protein us plant-based. He is best known for his time in WWE under the ring name The Great Khali. We don’t claim to make you the second Khali but Moonglet products can be a part of your daily diet and will surely give a clean and plant-based source of nutrition to your daily requirement.

The products comes in a shelf-stable powder form and is instantly dispersible in water. Once prepared, it can be used in the same way as eggs. The powder is made from natural ingredients with no artificial colours or preservatives. Moonglet’s protein content is higher to that of eggs, and its nutritional profile is much better.

Feedback so far has been positive, with consumers saying the product tastes better and cooks in the same way as conventional eggs. Better still, it is cholesterol-free and much lower in saturated fat than eggs.

Our Learnings – How do we make eggs from plants?

Eggs are one of the most common foods on the plant, spanning cultures, cousins, distances and languages. We eat 1.4 trillion chicken eggs per year, using 93 million acres of land and 51 billion gallons of water in the process.

Our journey of Moonglet started with a simple question – Could we make really delicious eggs from plants?

Yes, and in the process we made vegan eggs that are better for the planet, too. We found our answers in unlikely plants. The 1500BC old legumes called mung beans and chickpeas. Cultures across the globe have cooked with ‘mung beans’ and ‘chickpeas’ for millennia. These very old beans, it turns out and makes very good vegan source of eggs. Both mung bean and chickpeas are also one of the most sustainable plants on earth, using significantly fewer resources to grow and cultivate than do chicken eggs. So that’s a really nice benefit.

Vegan Egg uses 98% less water.

Yes, they’re delicious and, yes, they’re made from plants, and, sure, that helps the planet. But they’re also better for us, too. Vegan Egg ingredients have 50% less saturated fat and higher amount of protein as compared to a chicken egg. It’s also free of cholesterol and full of good-for-you polyunsaturated fat. We call that a win-win.

We love eggs…

The way they fluff, the way they scramble, the way they make breakfast worth waking up for. We especially love how they’re healthier and even taste better when they’re made from plants. Yes, we said it. The best eggs don’t come from chickens; they come from plants. And delicious eggs might just fix our planet. We separated the egg from the bird to end the unsustainable mass production of one of the world’s most common foods. Because the industrialized egg system sucks for our bodies, for the earth and, let’s be honest, it’s not a party for the birds either.

Our work family is a group of chefs, food bloggers and traditional food lovers to make really delicious eggs for you. Ready to help us make some really good egg recipes? Come and join us in our mission to ease our planet.
